Rasam Powder / Rasa Podi


Ingredients :

1. Coriander seeds - 3/4 Cup
2. Cumin seeds - 3/4 Cup
3. Toor dhal - 1/2 Cup
4. Black pepper - 1/4 Cup
5. Red chillies - 3
6. Curry leaves - A few
7. Turmeric Powder - 1 tsp (Optional)




Procedure :

1. Dry roast all the above ingredients and allow them to cool.

2. In a small mixer jar, grind the cooled ingredients to a coarse powder.

3. Transfer to an air-tight container.

4. Use 1 tsp of rasam powder for a bowl of rasam that serves for four.

  16. Aha as madhu says ... That podi will make a stellar rasam! So nice of you to share! I have vowed to my hubby that i will NOT blog my podis - The podis according to him are the essence of the preparation of rasam, sambar or dry sabjis for that matter :)
