Guest Post - 42 : Today's Guest - Gayathri Raani

Today, we have Gayathri Raani from Gayathri's Cook Spot is with us. She lives in Madurai. She holds couple of Diploma degrees. Her interest for cooking started during her teenage years. She has lot of interesting things to share with us. Let us hear from her now...

Nithu's Kitchen : Tell us about you and your family.
Gayathri : I am Gayathri Raani. I did my schooling in Theni ( near Madurai) and Pondicherry. I did my Diploma in ECE at Srimath Polytechnic, Mysore and Diploma in Fashion Designing at Queen's School of Fashion, Mysore. I got married 6 years ago and a proud mother of Sruti who is in LKG. My hubby is Palanikumar who is a software consultant and we are at present settled at Madurai.

Nithu's Kitchen : When did you start to cook?
Gayathri : I started cooking at the age of 12. I used to follow the instructions from my Mom and so couldn't take the credit for the results. I started to cook independently only when I was 16. My grandma was admitted to hospital and my mom had to stay by her side. Naturally, I took charge of the kitchen and I couldn't believe that I could cook on my own. The dishes were good and so I became confident of my cooking.

Nithu's Kitchen : How your love for cooking started.
Gayathri : I started to collect recipes during my teenage and I would never miss any cookery show. I used to write down lots of recipes from the show. I also collected recipes from magazines. Now I have a huge collection of recipes.

Nithu's Kitchen : What made you to start a cookery blog.
Gayathri : To be frank, I had some household worries. I was often thinking of those and was getting mad. Just to divert my mind, I started browsing the net. My dad suggested some pages from the web. When I saw a 'start your own blog' ad in some site I just wanted to give it a try. My hubby encouraged me to start it. When I started, I didn't understand anything. It was learn by trial and errors at the beginning. Now my blog is 3 months old and I have got so many blogger friends.

Nithu's Kitchen : Share us one unforgettable incident in which you got all blessings from the elderly people.
Gayathri : Yeah, that was one such unforgettable day in my life. While I was in college, a group of relatives and friends, of about 60 people visited us. My mom, a nice person had promised to prepare breakfast and lunch for them. We cooked for the whole night the previous day. Though it was bit hectic, all our tiredness were gone when they enjoyed the food and blessed us:-)

Nithu's Kitchen : How starting a blog has changed your life style.
Gayathri : Yeah, ofcourse life has changed a lot. I don't have free time now. If I am free for some minutes I start thinking of my next post or any event or contest going on in the blog world.Even the finishing touch I give to my dishes have improved a lot because everything I prepare have to be photographed immediately. I prepare variety of dishes for my daughter and hubby. I have stopped watching tv:-)

Nithu's kitchen : What do you have today to share with us. Why did you select this dish.
Gayathri : Gulab Jamuns. This was my first blog post and many of the readers would have missed it. It is so yummy and one of my favorite sweets.
