Murunga Keerai Vadai (Drumstick Leaves Fritters)

Murunga Keerai Vadai is a delicious tea time snack.


Ingredients :

1. Channa Dhal - 1 Cup
2. Thoor Dhal - 1/2 Cup
3. Red Chilly - 3 or Adjust to your taste
4. Fennel Seeds - 1 tsp 
5. Asafoetida - 1/2 tsp
6. Chaat Masala - 1/2 tsp (Optional)
7. Garam Masala - 1/2 tsp (Optional)
8. Drumstick Leaves - 1 Cup 
9. Onion  -  1/2 Cup (Finely Chopped)
10. Ginger - 1 inch piece (Chopped Finely)
11. Curry Leaves  -  1 Sprig
12. Salt - Needed Qty
13. Oil - For deep frying


Procedure :

1. Soak channa dhal, thoor dhal and chillies together for 2 hours. 

2. Drain water. Take a handful of soaked dhal. Keep it aside. 

3. Grind the remaining dhal and chillies along with fennel seeds and asafoetida to a coarse mixture.

4. Now combine chaat masala, garam masala, onion, ginger, curry leaves, drumstick leaves, salt, soaked dhal and ground mixture. Mix well.

5. Make equal sized balls from the mixture.

6. Gently flatten the balls and deep fry in batches of 4 vadas per batch.

7. You will get around medium sized 16 vadas for this measurement.

8. Serve hot with a cup of tea or coffee.
