7th Blog Anniversary

Nithu's Kitchen completed Seventh Year in this Blog World!!! and entered Eighth Year today:-) Thanks to my family, friends and a special thanks to all magazines who are supporting and encouraging me.  This year is really a good and lucky year for Nithu's Kitchen and in personal front too. Nithu's Kitchen featured in many leading magazines and earned a good name.

Apart from the short stories published, my first novel 'முழுமதி பிரிந்து போவதில்லை!' was published in Kanmani Magazine, (21st September 2016 issue) a very popular magazine from Devi groups of Magazines.

In June this year, I published 'பட்டாம்பூச்சி மனசு',  compilation of my short stories published in all leading magazines. Atlast my dream had come true. Thanks to my husband and my parents who rendered their full support to bring out my book. My special thanks to the publisher.

Our Lil "S" was not keeping up well for last two weeks. That is why I could not post anything here. Now that she has recovered and I am trying to get in to my routine. You can expect many delicious recipes in this blog soon.

Aachi Masala and Aval Vikatan (A popular Tamil fortnightly) hosted a contest for new and innovative recipes using Aachi Masala Products. The event is named as "Magudam Sooda Vaa". The event is a ongoing one and this issue (26-2-2013) carried my recipe "Pink Paneer Balls" which bagged me "Aachi Kitchen Rani" award and a gift pack from Aachi Masala. Thanks to Aval Vikatan and Aachi Masala Team. A special thanks to Aathirai Venugopal, who tried and selected the recipe.

Hope you all had a very wonderful Pongal. We too had a great Pongal with our Little Angel "S". She wore Pattu Pavadai and enjoyed eating Sakkarai Pongal & Ulunthu Vadai. Two of my stories (Veedu & Mamiyar Gunam) got published in the same issue of  today's Dinamalar's supplement Varamalar. Dinamalar is a Tamil Daily published from TamilNadu. The founder is T.V.Ramasubbaiyer. Varamalar is bundled with Dinamalar on Sundays. Varamalar covers the popular trends in the society and also features short stories. It is basically a weekly round up of news and entertainment in Tamil. Also on Sundays the main daily is split into two sections, each of them resembling a regular daily by featuring unique front pages and complete articles.(Source : Wiki).

The one story that got published today is "Veedu" which bagged the consolation prize in TVR Memorial Short Story Contest-2012 and another story is "Mamiyar Gunam". The story Mamiyar Gunam is published in my pen name Sathvika. (Sathvika is our Lil Angel's Name). Thanks to Dinamalar-Varamalar Team.

My story "Penkulathin Vetriyadi" was published in Thendral's  April 2012 Issue. (Thendral is a monthly magazine that is published for the Tamil people living in North America) I sent this story for their short story contest held last year. Though it did not fetch the prize, the story was selected for publication. Somehow missed to post about this earlier. 

 In November 2010 issue of Thendral my Kollu (Horsegram) Recipes were published. July 2011 issues carried my story  "Rotti Ayya".  Thanks to Thendral team.

Friends, One of my stories got published in Thendral Magazine, July 2011 Issue. Thendral is a monthly magazine that is published for the Tamil people living in North America. Last year, in November 2010 issue, they published my Kollu (Horsegram) Recipes. Thanks to Thendral for publishing my story this month.

The whole story revolves around a man and his association with a cookie vendor in his various stages of life. The main theme of the story is from the incidents that happened in my father's life. So, I dedicated this story to my Dad.

As the story is in Tamil, I hope to get the feed back from some of our friends atleast. Let me know your comments if you get a chance to read the story.

Vikatan is a leading Tamil magazine group. It was started in the year 1928 by S.S.Vasan. To know more about Vikatan, go here. I know, most of my tamil friends here are regular readers of Vikatan group of magazines and the above information is just for non-tamil friends here :-)

Every year, Vikatan publishes a special edition for Deepavali. This year, I had the opportunity to feature in their Deepavali Malar. Couple of my recipes (Chocolate Fudge & Potato Peanut Butter Candy) were published under the title "Sweet Six"(Page 302-303). Thanks to Vikatan for this great opportunity.
