Vegetable Pakoda

This is a quick and easy tea time snack.

Ingredients : 

1. Besan - 1 Cup
2. Cumin Powder - 1 tsp
3. Ajwain - 1/2 tsp
4. Green Chillies - 2 (Chopped Finely)
5. Carrot - 1 (Grated)
6. Onion - 1/2 Cup (Chopped)
7. Cabbage - 1/2 Cup (Chopped)
8. Bell Pepper - 1/2 (Chopped)
9. Red Chilly Powder - 1 tsp
10. Salt - Needed qty
11. Oil - For frying




Procedure :

1. Combine besan, cumin ajwain, red chilly powder and salt.

2. Add the vegetables and 1/4 cup of water.Mix the ingredients thoroughly so that besan coats the vegetables.

4. Springle a little water if needed.

5. Heat oil and deep fry the pakodas. 

6. Serve hot with mint chutney and tomato sauce.

Ribbon Pakoda / Ola Pakoda and Few Savory Treats

Yesterday, I made this savory treat. Ribbon pakoda is very easy to prepare and I don't think anyone would go wrong in preparing this crispy snack.

Ingredients :

1. Rice flour - 2 cups
2. Besan - 1/4 Cup
3. chilli powder - 1/4 tsp
4. Butter - 1/3 tbs
5. Salt - Needed qty
6. Garlic - 2 cloves
7. Oil - For frying




Procedure :

1. Crush garlic cloves. Put it in 1/4 cup of water. Allow it to stand for atleast 15 minutes. Now, filter and Keep the garlic water aside.
2. Add all the dry ingredients and butter together. Now sprinkle the garlic water over it.
3. Use some more water to make a soft dough. the dough should be soft like chapathi dough.
4. Grease the inner side of the Murukku presser with oil. Place the ribbon pakoda plate in the press.
7. Stuff it with the dough.
8. Heat oil. Medium the heat and press the ribbon pakoda over hot oil.
9. Keep till it turns golden brown and crisp.
10.Store in an air-tight container.

Ash Gourd Peels Pakoda

This is another recipe using ash gourd peels. Earlier I posted "Ash gourd Peel & Green Onion Soup". Ash gourd peels pakoda is a wonderful tea time snack. This quick snack goes to my event "Best Out of waste".





Ingredients :

1. Ash gourd Peels - 1 Cup (Chopped)
2. Rice Flour - 1/4 Cup
3. Besan Flour - 1/2 Cup
4. Red Chilly Powder - 1.5 tsp
5. Ginger-Garlic Paste - 1/2 tsp (Optional)
6. Salt - Needed Qty
7. Oil - For deep frying




Procedure :

1. Mix all the ingredients together.

2. Sprinkle water little by little till the flour mixture coats the peels.

3. Heat Oil.

4. Fry pakodas till crisp.

5. Serve as evening snack with tea.

Vendaikai Pakoda/Bhindi Pakora

Bhindi pakora is very easy to prepare. It take less than 30 minutes for the whole procedure. This is a delicious evening snack. My mom often prepares this crispy pakora at home and she gave me this recipe.





Ingredients :

1.Bhindi - 250 gms
2.Rice flour - 1 Cup
3.Red Chilli Powder - 2 tsp
4.Salt - Needed qty
5.Water - enough to sprinkle
6.Oil - To fry

Procedure :

1.Wash bhindi.Cut in to small round pieces.

2.Take cut bhindi in a bowl and then add rice flour,redchilli powder and salt.

3.Just,sprinkle some water (don't use more water)

4.Mix them all well so that the bhindi pieces get equally coated with rice flour,chilli powder and salt.

5.Meanwhile, heat oil in a pan and in batches,deep fry the bhindi.

6.Drain excess oil on a Kitchen tissue.

7.Serve hot.

Note: If you want,you can also use gram flour 1/4 cup and 3/4 cup rice flour instead of 1 whole cup of rice flour alone.
