Navaratna Kurma (Only with Fruits)

Dear Friends, send your entries for the event "Think Beyond the Usual with Fruits". Only 9 more days left for the event end date. I'm really excited to see lot of new recipes from my friends. Just wanted to tell you all that if I haven't acknowledged any of your entries please do mail me or leave a comment.

Now, today's recipe is my family's favourite Navaratna Kurma. This is the first time I'v prepared it only with fruits. Usually, I combine both fruits and vegetables. The procedure I have given here is my own way of preparing this kurma and I'm not sure how you all used to prepare. The taste is mildly sweet and the aroma is very nice.

Ingredients:

1. Apple
2. Pineapple
3. Grapes - ( I used seedless. Didn't chop it, used whole grapes)
4. Star fruit
5. Papaya
6. Dates
7. Mango
8. Jack fruit
9. Guava (I used fully ripened fruit and so, it was easy to remove the part with seeds)
10. Onion - 1/2 Cup (Chopped)
11. Ginger-Garlic Paste - 1 tsp
12. Milk - 2 Cups
13. Cashew nuts - 1/2 Cup
14. Coconut - Less than 1/4 Cup
15. Green Chilly - 1
16. Garam Masala - 1 tsp
17. Salt - Needed qty
18. Oil - 1 tbs
19. Nuts & Raisin - For garnishing

Procedure:

1. Soak Cashews in boiled milk for 1 hour. Make it to a paste and keep aside.
2. Cut all the fruits. Take 3 Cups full of cut fruits and keep aside.
4. In a pan add oil, then add ginger-garlic paste. Fry till raw smell goes.
5. Now, add onion and fry till onion turns golden brown.
6. Add the cut fruits and fry for sometime.
7. Add very little quantity of water and cook for 5 minutes.
8. Add the cashew-milk paste and mix well. Add salt and garam masala.
9. Medium the flame and keep it as such for 10 - 15 minutes.
10. Grind coconut with chilly and add it to the contents.
11. Mix well, allow it to be in medium heat for another 10 minutes.
12. Garnish with nuts and raisin.
13. Serve hot with Naan.

Serves : 2
