Guest Post - 14 : Today's Guest - Divya


Today we have Divya from Divya's Recipes is with us. She is a BA graduate. She is such a talented person. She loves to paint and knit apart from cooking. Now, let us hear from her...

Nithu's Kitchen : Tell us about you Divya.
Divya : I am from Gunupur at Orissa border,India. I did my studies there. My mother tongue is Oriya. But I can speak telugu. I'm a BA graduate. My dad is a businessman and he runs a gold shop. My mom is house wife. She is a very great cook. I have one brother and one sister. Mine is an arranged marriage. After marriage within a month I came to USA. I am a housewife living with my caring and lovely husband Raj and 4 years old lovely son Eshaan. I am very simple and friendly person. I like to cook and I love to try new recipes.

Nithu's Kitchen : What are your interests apart from cooking?
Divya : I like watching TV, movies hindi and telugu, listing music, painting, knitting, chatting with friends and blogging.

Nithu's Kitchen : Nice to know you love knitting and painting. Can you share us the pictures of your painting and knitted stuff ?
Divya : I am not a professional. Just for fun, I painted one saree and bedsheet. I knitted caps and scarfs for my son and hubby. This is the baby blanket I knitted and in the other picture you can see my painting.






Nithu's Kitchen : The painting looks so good. We loved the baby blanket you knitted. Thanks for sharing the pictures Divya. When did you start to cook?
Divya : I seriously started to cook only after marriage. When I tried various recipes all came out good. All my friends love my food.They had even suggested me to open a restaurant. But I feel that I am not that a great cook and there are lot more to learn.

Nithu's Kitchen : What inspired you to start a blog?
Divya : One of my friends told me that I could share my recipes in a blog. So, I started this blog and now sharing my recipes with people who really love cooking.

Nithu's Kitchen : What is your family's favourite food?
Divya : We eat any veg and non-veg dishes.My whole family love chicken biryani.

Nithu's kitchen : Whom you consider as your best critic?
Divya : My Husband and Son.

Nithu's Kitchen : What do you have today to share with us?
Divya : Today, I am going to share with you all a RidgeGourd with Channa Dal Curry.

Nithu's Kitchen : Wow! That sounds new and interesting. Why did you select this?
Divya : it is very simple and delicious recipe and hope everybody likes it.

Ingredients:-

1. Beerakaya (ridge gourd)-2 nos
2. Channa Dal-1/2 cup
3. Onions-1 nos
4. Green Chillis-3 nos
5. Tomato-1 big nos
6. Turmeric powder-1 tsp
7. Mustard seeds-1/2 tsp
8. Cumin seeds-1/2 tsp
9. Hing- 1 pinch
10. Curry leaves-few
11. Red chilli powder-1 tsp





Method:-

1. Wash channa dal and soak in water for half an hour.
2. Wash and peel skin of the ridge gourd and cut into small pieces.
3. Heat a oil in a pressure cooker pan.When oil is hot add cumin seeds,mustard seeds,they pops up now add hing,green chilis and curry leaves fry for 1 minutes.
4. Now add onions fry for 3 minutes,add tomato pieces and soaked channa dal fry for 5 minutes.
5. Now add ridge gourd pieces mix well and add turmeric powder,chilli pwder,salt to it mix well.
6. Now add 1/2 cup of water mix well and pressure cook it for 3 whistles.
7. Wait till the pressure goes off.
8. Ridge gourd curry is done.
Serve with rice or roti.
