Guest Post - 20 : Today's Guest - Krishnaveni

Today, we have Krishnaveni from Krishnaveni's Kitchen. She is a Doctorate holder in Agriculture. She worked as Horticulturist in Canada. Recently, she won this blog's event "Best Out of Waste". Lets us hear from her now...

Nithu's Kitchen : Tell us about you.
Krishnaveni : I am from Karur (Tamil Nadu), happily married to Mahesh from Erode. We have a three year old lovely daughter. After marriage we moved to Canada, living here for the last five years. I completed Ph.D in Agriculture from Tamil Nadu Agriculture University, Coimbatore.

Nithu's Kitchen : A Doctorate holder..that is something great Krishnaveni. Did you work there in Agriculture University?
Krishnaveni : I got married when I was in the middle of my Ph.D program and immediately after my Ph.D, we moved to Canada. So I didn't get a chance to work in my University. In canada, I worked as a Horticulturist before our daughter's birth. Now I am a fulltime Home maker.

Nithu's Kitchen : What are your interests apart from Cooking?
Krishnaveni : Reading Books and Gardening.

Nithu's Kitchen : We would love to see a Horticulturist's garden. Could you share us a picture of your garden.
Krishnaveni : We have recently moved to a new place and yet to develop my garden. Soon I will post pictures in my blog.

Nithu's Kitchen : When did you start to cook ? Who taught you the cooking?
Krishnaveni : I got interest in cooking only after my marriage. I learnt basic cooking from my mom and mother in-law.

Nithu's Kitchen : When did you start to blog and what made you to start a blog?
Krishnaveni : I started to blog on January 20, 2010. Actually it is my husband who asked me to take photos of my dishes...it continued and one fine morning he asked me why shouldn't we publish the recipes. Moreover he said, it would be useful to people who were in search of new recipes and in future it would be of great help to our daughter. So I started blogging and it helped me to find new friends...isn't it great?

Nithu's Kitchen : What cuisine does your blog focus?
Krishnaveni : Mainly Indian dishes. I'm now learning the international cuisine... in future, you can see lots of International cuisine in my blog.

Nithu's Kitchen : Which part of blogging you think that you should improve?
Krishnaveni : Baking, because I started to learn baking just few months back. It is a vast area which requires basic knowledge and perfect measurement of the ingredients that are being used in Baking.

Nithu's Kitchen : Who is your best critic?
Krishnaveni : My husband is the best critic for me and my dishes.

Nithu's Kitchen : Now, tell us how you felt when you get to know you won this blog's event "Best Out of Waste"? What was your first reaction?
Krishnaveni : That was a great one and I really thank Nithu for conducting such a fantastic event with a beautiful theme. My first reaction was...After seeing the results my husband said you have won in best out of waste event, first....I didn't believe his words...then...when I saw the results...I was overjoyed...thanks to Nithu and my blogger friends... I would like to dedicate this prize to all my blogger friends....

Nithu's Kitchen : You are such a lovely person to dedicate your win to all blogger friends. We are all lucky to have got a friend like you. Is this your first win in this blog world?
Krishnaveni : Yes, this is my first win in the blog world.

Nithu's Kitchen : We wish you many more winnings like this. What dish do you have today to share with us?
Krishnaveni : I'm sharing Tamil Nadu's traditional Arisi Murukku.

Nithu's Kitchen : Why did you select this Arisi Murukku?
Krishnaveni : I selected arisi murukku, because it is our family's all time favourite snack.

Ingredients :

1.Idly rice - 800 g
2.Roasted channa dal powder - 200 g
3.Unsalter butter - 70 g
4.Dried Red chili - 8
5.Salt as needed
6.Sesame seeds - 1 Tablespoon
7.Ajwain - 1 Tablespoon
8.Oil for frying

Method :

1.Soak rice for about an hour. Rinse well with fresh water and grind with red chili, roasted channa dal powder and salt into fine paste.
2.Add melted butter, sesame seeds and ajwain. Mix them well.
3.The batter should not be too watery.
4.Place lemon size batter in Murukku achchu, press and deep fry in cooking oil.
5.Fish those out, drain excess oil and cool.
6.Store them in an air tight container.

Nithu's Kitchen : Thank you so much Krishnaveni.
