Spicy Murukku / Kara Murukku

Spicy Murukku is a tasty tea time snack. I got this recipe from Mahi. Thanks to her for this wonderful recipe. I have made few adjustments to the original recipe to fit to our taste.

Ingredients :

1. Rice flour - 2 Cups
2. Roasted channa dhal (Pottu kadalai) powder-1/2 Cup
3. Red chilli Powder - 2 tsp
4. Asafoetida - 1/2 tsp
5. Sesame Seed - 1 tbs
6. Cumin - 1/2 tbs
7. Butter - 1.5 tbs
8. Salt - Needed Qty
9. Oil - To Fry

Procedure :

1. Melt Butter. Keep aside.

2. Combine all other ingredients (except oil).

3. Add melted butter, mix the ingredients well.

4. Sprinkle a little water and make a soft dough.

5. Stuff dough in oil greased Murukku maker.

6. Press in a oil greased plastic sheet.

7. Heat oil and depending on your wok size, put two or three murukku at a time and fry till crisp.

8. Drain excess oil on a kitchen towel.
